The Unfortunate Traveller The Life of Jacke Wilton – Michael Ayrton Illustrations
by Thomas Nashe
A narrative of the ‘likeable scoundrel’ Jacke Wilton, first published in 1594, when Thomas Nashe was back from his ‘mysterious’ continental excursions. This edition reproduces the original Elizabethan text, with a modern introduction, and 15 full-page illustrations by the renowned Michael Ayrton.
Hardback in green cloth, pp121 + 15 plates.
This copy is in fairly Good condition, though not externally attractive (cloth marked and worn, some marks to the text, though generally clean; ink mark to bottom page edges); no dustjacket.
Published by John Lehmann, 1948. First in this edition.
The Elizabethan text may be quite challenging to read, but well worth it.
