The author was captain of the British Aerobatic Team, reaching 4th place in the World Aerobatic Championships, and regularly flew at airshows, particularly in the Pitts Special, Spitfire, and the famous machines of the Shuttleworth Collection, and was also known for his test flying of unusual and tricky airplanes.
He met his death shortly after completing this book, while flying an elderly Spanish bomber in poor visibility.
