The autobiography of one of the first generation of Formula One drivers, who competed in 18 Grand Prix between 1950 and 1952, winning one. His career spanned motorcycle racing in the 1930s right up to racing in the Mille Miglia during the 1950s, vying for the lead with Stirling Moss during his legendary 1955 victory.
The book’s cover shows an artist’s impression of his revolutionary patented racing car design from 1952. I don’t think it ever raced – but I stand to be corrected!
Piero Taruffi was also the author of another classic motor sport book, The Technique of Motor Racing. You can find a copy here.
